McLaren executive director Zak Brown has seen former engine partner Honda have a trouble-free testing period with their new partner Toro Rosso, and the American admits Honda is "doing a good job" with Toro Rosso so far.
McLaren had a notoriously bad relationship with Honda over the last three years, as the British team struggled to stay relevant with the Japanese power units. The papaya-orange cars were often not finishing races, and last season McLaren finished 9th in the constructors' championship, second to last. McLaren were desperate to get rid of Honda as engine-partners as the relationship between the two parties was quickly souring.
Honda has now teamed up with Toro Rosso, and so far both Honda and Toro Rosso seem to be happy to be working with each other.
"I know there's a lot of comparisons between them and us now, as you'd expect," admitted Brown.
"Eric [Boullier] and the team are very confident we're going to have a good season."
"They [Honda] are doing a good job, they're a great company and it was always just a matter of time before they would see improvements, and they're doing well in testing, good on them."
