Renault-driver Nico Hülkenberg thinks his new car is better in every way, and thinks is team is ready to step up to become the 'best of the rest' behind the so-called 'Big Three' of Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull.
"I would not call ourselves a secret favourite," the German told Kölner Express"We did our homework though, and fixed our weaknesses."
"I have more of everything - more speed, grip, driveability."
The RS14 has been in the F1-news because of the rear-end of the car. The exhaust-pipe of the French car is directed upwards, making it blow air into the heat-treated wing. Hülkenberg was posed questions about it, but didn't want to go into detail about it.
"We're fine-tuning the car we have here so we'll be prepared for battle in Melbourne."
The next reported step for Renault is to install a new aero package for the last two days of testing on the Circuit de Catalunya.
The goal for the French outfit is to be, as Hülkenberg put it, the "best of the rest", which would mean to finish fourth in the constructors' championship. That position was taken in by Force India in 2017.
