Pierre Gasly was only the second driver in Monza to win a race with the
Honda hybrid engine and just felt it was heading in the right direction. The Frenchman has been giving his thoughts on the withdrawal.
The departure of
Honda was the topic of discussion every day in the
Formula 1 world last week, but it is only today that most drivers are being given the chance to say something about it. At the press conference on the Thursday prior to the
Eifel Grand Prix Gasly expressed his disappointment and surprise at the series of events.
Gasly had great plans for the future
"I would have liked them to have stayed," said the Frenchman. He emphasized how well
Honda have developed the engine in recent years and that the future looked bright.
Gasly and his fellow drivers now have more than a year to showcase the Japanese brand. He thinks that this is still possible and hopes that
Red Bull Racing can go for the title next year.
