Pierre Gasly has been impressive in his rookie season, and the Frenchman has acknowledged that his team's engine partner
Honda has been key in that.
Gasly underlined the tireless work ethic of the Japanese car maker.
"They [Honda] work incredibly hard and they want to show everyone in F1 that they're capable of building the best engine," Gasly revealed to Motorsport.com.
"If Honda wants to achieve something they'll give it their everything to achieve that."
Honda initially focussed on the reliability of the engine more than anything, but power has become their focus more now. Where does their big upgrade leave them now?
"We were behind Renault at the start of the season, but I think we're on the same level now in Montréal," Gasly predicted before FP1.
Whether Honda can beat Renault remains to be seen, but the engine has certainly made big steps since breaking up their partnership with McLaren. Who was at fault for that partnership never working out, is a different question.
