Christian Horner is thoroughly enjoying this Formula One season. The
Monaco Grand Prix was a 'great weekend in terms of performance' according to the
Red Bull Racing team boss. After
Max Verstappen 's win and
Sergio Perez 's fourth place, Red Bull are at the top of both rankings.
Special Message
"So far this championship is box office," Horner opens his column on
RedBull.com.
"I even received a text from Tyson Fury after Max’s win in Monaco." Horner says Fury is a fan of Verstappen and sees the similarities between Fury's way of fighting and Verstappen's way of driving.
"Monaco really was a great weekend in terms of performance and points for us. To come away as leaders of both the Constructors' and the Drivers' Championship was beyond all our expectations going into the weekend."
Special weekend for Red Bull and Honda
This is the first time in the hybrid era that
Red Bull Racing has topped the standings. And for Honda, it's even longer back: In 1991, the Japanese topped the rankings. But Horner is keeping a cool head and knows that what matters is being on top at the end of the year.
"It was a masterclass from Max and while it was more of a muted Monaco without our floating Energy Station, it was great to see some fans back to the grandstands," says Horner. He does have to admit that the race itself is often not very exciting in the principality. "But that is what makes Saturday's qualifying even more crucial," he said.
