Charles Leclerc was comfortably in the lead ahead of the French Grand Prix, but after eighteen laps the Ferrari driver crashed into the wall. The Monegasque takes home zero points in the battle against Max Verstappen.
Leclerc got away well at the start and managed to keep Verstappen behind, despite the Dutchman staying in the Ferrari car's DRS for laps. Leclerc managed to widen the gap and Verstappen made an early pit stop, so things were looking good for the Monegasque. However, Leclerc ruined his own race.
He will recover. He is not at that level as Max is but Charles is a nicest person and incredibly, naturally fast driver.
Charles keeps making these mistakes and throwing away his lead, as he himself admits, that's not how a championship is won. Coupled with reliability issues and Ferrari's questionable strategy at times, and they will sabotage themselves.
Looks like there's good pace in that Ferrari though, and Mercedes joining the party as well.
FIA has to do an infestigation now. this is now a safety issue. no matter what leclerc himself said. it was already vissible in austria. and that corner a 20% 30% extra throttle makes you go off like that.
