Kevin Magnussen thinks Verstappen is the 'safe bet' for the title in 2023. At Sky Sports, the Haas driver was asked about his expectations for the upcoming season and who he sees winning the title.
Slowly, the 2023 season is starting to get underway. Thanks to the various unveilings, we get to see the cars piece by piece and it is possible to make a tentative estimate of what the upcoming season will look like.
Magnussen was asked whether he expects Verstappen to secure his third title, or whether the other teams will make things more difficult for him this year. Magnussen somewhat laughed the question away. " I'm not the right person to ask, I don't watch any of the races," jokes the Dane. "Max definitely looked strong last year, with how he did, how Red Bull did, so it would be a safe bet to go with that again. But things can change around in Formula 1 at any moment."
For Magnussen himself, the coming season will be mostly about improvement. Haas closed 2022 eighth among constructors, with Magnussen 13th among drivers. With Nico Hülkenberg replacing Mick Schumacher, Haas is betting on experience to get better results next season.
