Stoffel Vandoorne's future is uncertain since his axe from McLaren yesterday, but his manager remains confident for the Belgian's future.

Vandoorne's contract was not renewed at McLaren following two unsuccessful seasons with the side.

Lando Norris was shortly after confirmed that he'd be taking over from Vandoorne as McLaren build for the future.

Alessandro Alunni Bravi, Vandoorne's manager, is still confident that his client can have a strong future in Formula One despite his latest setback.

"It's good that the situation is now official and clear," Bravi said to La Derniere Heure. "I'm calm ans confident about his future as a race driver rather than a reserve driver. That's our priority.

"Stoffel is an excellent driver with two years of experience in a struggling team. He has also learned a lot from Fernando Alonso and was one of his best team-mates. We have plan A, B and C for him."

There was plenty of speculation that Vandoorne could be reunited with his old Formula 2 boss, Frederic Vasseur, who is in charge at Sauber - but Vasseur has denied those reports himself.

Toro Rosso may have two seats available - but definitely one with Pierre Gasly making the switch to Red Bull at the end of the season, and Brendon Hartley's future is still not 100% due to his unconvincing form.
