It's been one of the biggest questions in the paddock: Where will
Adrian Newey sign? After joining
Red Bull Racing in 2006, the master designer left the team after the
Miami Grand Prix weekend. Questions were then asked about where Newey would end up in
Formula 1, with
Ferrari seemingly being his rumoured destination. However, after months of speculation,
Aston Martin will be the destination for the Brit. But Newey's manager
Eddie Jordan refuses to comment on the news.
During the
Italian Grand Prix, rumours about
Adrian Newey's future in
F1 filled the paddock. Then, on the Tuesday after the Grand Prix in Monza,
GPblog could
confirm that the deal between Aston Martin and the British designer was complete and that an official announcement would be made in the coming days. It would also see Newey join back up with former Red Bull colleague Dan Fallows, who was head of aerodynamics at the Austrian team while Newey was still there. Fallows then joined
Aston Martin in 2022 to become their technical director.
But even though the deal between Newey and Aston Martin is already complete, Jordan refuses to confirm if the two parties have confirmed a deal. In a comment made to
BBC Sport, the former
F1 team boss said:
"I am not prepared to answer. I will not be forthcoming in any shape or form."Jordan may not make any comments on the Newey deal, but Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll will, with the Canadian coming out and saying that
he and Newey "have been talking for years."
