No battle between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris for pole position at Silverstone. Instead, George Russell, Lewis Hamilton and Norris made up the top three. Verstappen still managed to qualify on the second row despite damage to his RB20, an immense achievement according to Helmut Marko.
Marko says Verstappen was missing a lot of downforce after his floor was "significantly damaged" by a trip through the gravel in Q1. "He had much less downforce. With a quick repair from the mechanics, some adjustments and a different wing and so on, we were able to reduce the downforce a lot," Marko is quoted by Motorsport-Total.com.
Verstappen thus drove with a considerable handicap, but nevertheless managed to make it to the second row of the grid. " Fourth place is sensational," jubilates Marko. The Red Bull consultant says Red Bull does not have a similar floor ready to replace it, but does not expect that to be a major problem.
Indeed, the new floor would only be half a tenth faster than the old one. So there are two options: "Either we fix it, or we switch to another type of floor," Marko said.

Nope. Because of sudden rain in that corner. You either didn’t watch or aren’t seriously interested.
So it wasn't PER's mistake either he got stuck in the gravel.. It was VER's fault his floor got destroyed. He was the one on holding the steering wheel and controlling the pedals. It was unfortunate, but clearly one of his rare mistakes.
Completely different situations tbh... - Perez drove on a drying track, switched his inters for slicks and immediately spun off. Track conditioned didnt change for him, he just had to be careful on his slicks, but that was the same for all drivers going on slicks then. - Max was on a flying lap, when it suddenly rained in a corner, where it didnt rain the lap before...thats always very tricky. Technically, sure you can call ot a mistake if it makes you happy, but I do think Perez' blunder was of a whole other order of magnitude!
It is not a matter to make me happy. The thing between the seat and the wheel is in control of the car. Other drivers made it through without going off. Sh1t happens sometimes times, even to the best ones.
You do know the guy behind the wheel controls the car and needs to adapt to the conditions.....? Maybe you don't have a licence yet, that could explain it.
