The
FIA had a busy Friday. Several drivers had to report to the stewards after the practice sessions.
Lewis Hamilton and
Lance Stroll got off to a good start, but
Yuki Tsunoda received his second reprimand of the season.
After the second free practice session of the
Australian Grand Prix,
Lance Stroll and
Lewis Hamilton were called to the stewards for holding up another car in Turn 13. Hamilton held up Stroll, while Stroll himself held up
Carlos Sainz.
The two drivers are lucky, however, because according to the stewards they did not unnecessarily impede anyone. In fact, several cars converged in the final corners, which also forced Hamilton and Stroll to slow down. Therefore, Hamilton and Stroll will not receive a reprimand.
Second reprimand for Tsunoda
Tsunoda, however, will receive a reprimand. The AlphaTauri driver ended up in front of Sainz's
Ferrari on the exit of the pit lane, but the Spaniard was on a fast lap. Tsunoda drove too slowly on the racing line and thus prevented Sainz's lap. It is the second reprimand of the season for Tsunoda, who prevented
Charles Leclerc during FP2 in Bahrain.
Vettel, like Tsunoda, received a penalty from the stewards, but in the case of the German it was a fine. He drove a lap around the
Albert Park Circuit during FP2 on a scooter with which he broke the regulations.
