Red Bull to watch out: 'It was a difficult year'

Red Bull Racing may have won the world title last season, but that doesn't mean it will in the current calendar year. The new regulations mean that the cars will have to be reworked and the team will have to work hard to keep up.

The Austrian racing stable knows from experience how complicated it is to deal with new regulations, as Edd Straw looks back at the official website of Formula 1. While Red Bull won the world championship in 2013 with Sebastian Vettel, problems started to emerge for the team in 2014.

Partly due to the performance of the Renault engine, Red Bull failed to keep up with the top teams and at the time had to sit idly by as Mercedes took the leadership role. Between 2014 and 2020, the German formation won the top prize every year.

Red Bull wants to open new season well

Last year Red Bull managed to break the series, but the team will be keen to begin the new season strongly again. After all, Red Bull undoubtedly wants to avoid facing the same scenario as in 2014. "It was a difficult year and the start of a tough period for Red Bull," states Straw.
