Daniel Ricciardo is capable of producing spectacular racing, but the Aussie had a relatively quiet day during the Spanish Grand Prix, and he admitted that the race was very tough for him.

Ricciardo caught up with Sky Sports F1 after the race.

"It was very tough, I was quick when I wanted to be, but it was very easy to make mistakes too," he said.

"When I got lucky, I could do an incredible lap, that happened about one every five laps, I think.

"The other four, I was mainly sliding on those tyres."

When analyzing his race overall, Ricciardo knew that his race was practically over when he spun during the VSC.

"The start of the race felt good, Kimi wasn't exactly fast and Max and I had way more pace.

"When I pitted, however, I got stuck behind three other drivers, that cost me a lot of time.

"Besides, I spun out during the Virtual Safety Car, which ended up with me being in a no man's land."
