Daniel Ricciardo has said his current car is already better than next years
Renault car. The Australian drives his last race for Red Bull this weekend, before completing his shock signing announced in the summer.
In an interview with German Speedweek, Ricciardo sums up his chances and is realistic about the possible outcomes.
"My current car is better than the Renault car from 2019. I am very realistic about my chances with Renault. I know that Renault will not give me a championship car next year. We want to close the gap with the three top teams in the coming years," Ricciardo said.
At the start of the year in the first driver's press conference, Ricciardo explained how he wanted to sign for a championship winning team. Mercedes and Ferrari were quick to close doors.
Ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Ricciardo is excited to drive on the track.
"I think this is a nice circuit. And if you feel good on the job then you are always fast," Ricciardo added.
