Sebastian Vettel will make his debut for Aston Martin in 2021 and that takes some getting used to for the German. The car steers very differently to his previous cars, and with only a few laps in the winter test Vettel hasn't really got to know his car yet.

Vettel steps into a new car

Vettel has driven a Ferrari in recent years and the step to Aston Martin turns out to be a lot harder. After the winter test Vettel admitted that he needs to get used to the way the car steers and also the team itself still needs to get to know the German.
''Driving this car feels different. Of course, every F1 car has power steering, but every power steering is tuned slightly differently and that immediately gives you a completely different impression,'' Vettel says to Motorsport.com. Aston Martin works according to a completely different method than Ferrari.

Low-rake from Aston Martin

''The car has a completely different philosophy. It's a different team and a different car, so it drives very differently as well. And also inside the car everything feels different, just in terms of comfort. The pedals feel different and the seat is different.''
The thing people talk about most is the difference in rake, but according to Vettel it's more complex than that. ''It's interesting, let me put it this way. It's not like you have car with a high rake and suddenly you're in a Mercedes when you lower the car. Then again, it's not like if you raise the rake, you're suddenly in a Red Bull. It's much more complex than that'', concludes the four-time world champion.
