After a very good second free practice,
Sebastian Vettel dares to dream about a second row on the grid with
Aston Martin. In FP2, the four-time world champion finished in a neat fourth position.
Aston Martin didn't start 2022 off nicely but seems to have made a big step in the right direction with the major upgrade that came in Barcelona. In Azerbaijan, Vettel managed to cross the line in sixth place, the British team's best result so far this season. Of course, the German was helped by
Ferrari's double loss.
Aston Martin makes steps
In Canada, Aston Martin is again showing promising speed. In the second free practice Vettel finished in fourth position, just 0.315 seconds behind
Max Verstappen. The German dares to dream about a second row on the grid for Sunday's race, partly because
Charles Leclerc has already received a penalty of ten grid places.
"We are doing well, but we can't get on the podium easily yet," Vettel admitted quoted by
FormulaPassion.it.
"We can already be satisfied if we fight with Mercedes, Alpine and McLaren for the head of the midfield." Vettel adds that the car works well in the slow corners and medium speed corners and that an update is already on the way for the fast corners. This is expected at the team's home race at Silverstone.
