In 2009, Felipe Massa suffered a scary accident after a spring became dislodged from Rubens Barrichello's Brawn GP car and hit him in the head. Massa missed a number of races in 2009 recovering from the injuries he sustained. It also brought changes to the way drivers helmets were designed, with the introduction of a zylon strip to the area just above the visor.
