Max Verstappen managed to take away a record from Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel with his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix. Indeed, never before had a driver managed to achieve 14 wins in a single season. Timo Glock is impressed, he writes in his column on Sky Sports Deutschland.
"This is madness! You can only take your hat off to this achievement," he spoke of the record. "I honestly didn't expect it at the beginning of the season, but it shows what a strong package the combination between Red Bull Racing and Verstappen is at the moment."
Glock therefore does not expect Verstappen to be unstoppable this season, but next season could be a different story. After all, due to the budget cap being exceeded, Red Bull has less time in the wind tunnel, giving the competition an advantage.
The German finds it hard to say whether this is going to cause Red Bull to perform less next year. However, according to Glock, the cars of the top teams will get closer together in the coming seasons, which is going to ensure that the tension will increase.
He expects Mercedes and Ferrari to be able to start making things difficult for Verstappen, while he also has a good feeling about McLaren. Although the British racing stable was still far behind the top teams this year, Glock believes it has the potential to fight for wins.
