Harsh words on Bottas: "What's going on with this guy?"

With rumours now circulating for months that George Russell will take over the seat from Valtteri Bottas, it is up to the Finn to show what he has got this season. In Sunday's race at the Hungaroring however, things went wrong for him and he caused a crash involving several drivers.

In his new analysis on YouTube Peter Windsor discusses the chaos on the opening lap. "It was all triggered by Bottas making yet another terrible start. What is going on with this guy?"

"He made a terrible start and as a result of that he tries to make up for it by braking ridiculously late on the greasy track on cold intermediates into turn one. And took out Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez and Lando Norris. And also he very nearly took out his teammate Lewis Hamilton."

Notable team radio Bottas

Windsor continued: "At the end of it, when he got out the car, I thought it was interesting that his message was 'that's it.' It was almost as if, I've had enough."

"You know Valtteri, things are going from bad to worse at the moment. I thought the writing was on the wall when you spun in the pit lane, in Austria. You've got to be thinking now that Mercedes are saying this cannot continue. Imagine if he had taken Lewis out as well", Windsor said. Mercedes has indicated it will provide clarity on Hamilton's teammate in 2022 ahead of the race at Spa.

"That's it. (Mission accomplished)"

Hamilton is one of the greatest F1 racers there is. That being said he knew what he was doing & took Max out. He has done stuff like this before. Max hasn't done this in years. Max has 0 penalty points. Lewis has 6.

The two Mercedes they start on the end of every start race, just to be fair

HAM haters are an interesting breed! They see his hand in every incident in F1. What a sad bunch of losers! What pain to endure as he has notched up win after win over the years! I'm afraid there's yet more pain to come!

Neil Henderson 02 August 2021 at 22:32+ 3182

bottas is, as they say "done like dinner".

Roy Davies 02 August 2021 at 19:00+ 16

Of coarse it was Hamiltons fault that max turned in to cut him off, yes it's great that Max is willing to race toe to toe but it was a 50/50 racing accident.. nothing more, as for boos at the track for Lewis... The max fans should be ashamed of them selves.

Fez Nene 02 August 2021 at 13:54+ 17880

Get you... you want George in the Merc... but give the guy some space.... the media has not been fair since Russell stood in for Lewis... unfair!!!

Fez Nene 02 August 2021 at 13:51+ 17880

One can tell your bias from how you lined up his victims. He hit Lando...Lewis was no where near the incident to be even mentioned... so whatever you say Windsor shows you need a new pair of eyes...

krishsud 02 August 2021 at 17:17+ 4806

Thats what sometimes makes you blind when you are too much of a cheer girl. After lando hit max,if max moved straight then he would have hit your love's rear.winsdor is not talking here if bottas would directly hit lewis, instead chain of events could have taken lewis as well.Dont think blindly everytime just bec "lewis" name is been taken..

What is going on with this guy?....He is coping his Team mate.... What he sees he does.......

Hekate 02 August 2021 at 14:26+ 21351

Terrible starts are something of a speciality for Bottas.

Simpleh Lovely 02 August 2021 at 13:23+ 15729

Much more criticism of a guy making an error in greasy conditions on cold tyres than the guy who recklessly punted a rival off into the wall at 190 mph.

DIVERGENT 02 August 2021 at 13:25+ 9887

He is a Lewis fanboy?. What do you expect ?

Vish 02 August 2021 at 13:33+ 14459

Oh shut up, that was a race incident as stated by all unbiased people who understand F1, yes HAM was more guilty (predominantly) than VER, but he got a penalty for it. Don't talk about consequences because the penalty is about the incident not the consequences

Brad Gibson 02 August 2021 at 13:42+ 304

Well said !!!!!!!

Simpleh Lovely 02 August 2021 at 16:46+ 15729

The V Butler incident was by definition a first lap racing incident. It was reckless and he would have braked much earlier if his master was close in front of him, but it was a typical first corner incident on a greasy track. Whereas Hams simply rammed Max into the wall at 190 mph at Silverstone was not a racing incident. Max took the outside line and left Hams the inside line, but Hams just rammed him off the track anyway. It's reckless driving, 100% Hams's fault, almost premeditated going into the corner.

Gemma Dixon 03 August 2021 at 15:23+ 136

Really think you need to read the rules. If a driver is predominantly responsible for a collision, that is not a racing incident. Also "everyone" agrees it was a racing incident is a blatant lie. I'm a fan of Lewis but come on...he made a mistake

wavieraxe 02 August 2021 at 14:27+ 1080

Recklessly punted? Because he knew exactly how the outcome would be and that his vehicle wouldn't have been damaged and probably end up with a DNF? Honestly some of the moronic comments fuelled by jealousy and hate is beyond me lol

Simpleh Lovely 02 August 2021 at 16:47+ 15729

Hams was making sure Max wouldn't be race winner twice in two days on his home track in front of all his yobby fans. That he was able to continue was a bonus. But the guy on the outside is always going to be worst off.

wavieraxe 03 August 2021 at 10:02+ 1080

I'm really confused, when crashtappen used to run every driver off the track and drove like a bull seeing red, why wasn't anyone calling him out like this? Oh wait, I know why... Never mind.

Danny Gunther 03 August 2021 at 04:27+ 725

Ham has perfected that move which is why he employs it every single season... Only this time was the most brazen & petulant. He deserved a black flag,& instead the cheat is now in 1st place after stealing more than 60 pts from Max & Merc stealing wcc lead.

This is wheel to wheel racing. What would you like? The drivers to wave a whilte flag to say 'pass me' everytime you get alongside? That not racing.Thats a procession. Although penalties are more prevalent now, hard racing has been here for a long time. The desire to win has been here for a long time! One driver - a famous driver who was regarded as the best wheel to wheel racer in some opinions stated “Being a racing driver means you are racing with other people and if you no longer go for a gap that exists you are no longer a racing driver because we are competing.”

Simpleh Lovely 02 August 2021 at 16:48+ 15729

Stop with that stupid Senna quote he was busy justifying ramming Prost off the track at 180 mph. That and Hams's Silverstone move are the worst, most dangerous moves I've ever seen on a racetrack.

Kyle Riece Hewlett 03 August 2021 at 01:03+ 191

yeap. it was super dangerous. all these blind Hamulton fan boys are to dumb to see it for what it was though. he used verstappens car as a wall. Because he was not taking the corner at that speed on the line he was on. He was going straight into the gravel for a DNF. so he thought shit I'll use Max's car an punt him off an hope I can continue.

Still a hell of a quote. If you take the context out. and actually read what it says - rather than the consequence - this is what racing is about. Otherwise its not competitive! White Flag whilst i go around Simpleh Lovely and LH44Superstar. We can analyse it as much as we want here - with the option of camera angles and slow motion, but out there on the track you have ONE chance to get it right or wrong! So don't give me 'it was a dangerous move'. Get an FIA sports license - drive a car on track, RACE! let me see how s**t scared you would be to make that move. It takes bravery, courage and skill to make those moves stick. Same applies to when it goes wrong. At least you have tried. What have most have you tried? Nothing i bet!

Mark Watson 02 August 2021 at 19:11+ 93

You still going to bleet on about this in 2023. Its racing. If you don't like it go follow another bone contact sport. Fat to many idiots like you following these pages

Rykerman 02 August 2021 at 23:37+ 14

What is wrong with people like you ? So twisted with hate about some one you have never met someone who has done you know harm , some for whom you are so jealous of their talent and wealth that you have to turn every story from F 1 about Hamilton even when has nothing to do with him. It would not matter what he did you would always look for any negative view you can find. It just shows how ignorant you truly are about motor racing or your some sort of troll trying to stoke up more hate
