Sergio Perez did not move beyond sixth place in the race in Canada after a disappointing result on Saturday. The Mexican is in a difficult phase, as he also failed to grab a podium in Spain and Monaco. Meanwhile, teammate Max Verstappen continues to string together wins, and Perez tells his team Red Bull Racing's press release that he was surprised by the lack of speed.

In Canada, it was another disappointing weekend for the Red Bull driver. After a Q2 exit, the Mexican was also unable to break even in the race. The gap to Verstappen now stands at 69 points, so a world title seems to remain only a dream for the 33-year-old driver for now.

'After safety car no grip'

Perez himself is surprised by the inferior performance: "We just didn’t have the pace. It was looking good on the hard tyre initially but once the safety car came in I couldn’t recover the grip on that tyre and we didn’t have the pace on the medium."

Nevertheless, despite his disappointing performance, the Mexican can still see the positive part of the race: "We achieved 100 wins today and it is really great for the Team, I am very happy for everyone, Max has done a tremendous job, not just today but throughout the whole season."

@Kzik, am a Max fan as well but I would be shocked if you don't see the other side of your logic.
I mean both Ferraris, both Mercs, Max and Alonso all had pace on the mediums relative to their cars potential.
I also have my own logic which am sure is shared by many regarding Perez.

I wish Perez could be temporarily benched so he can have a break and come back refreshed. At the same time, I'd love to see Daniel Ricciardo back in the RedBull.

Well what you propose its what I belive is what Marko and Redbull are angling to do. Whether its the sort of senario Ferrari employed with Santander prompting to get rid of Kimi, well people are free to hypothesize.
