The Grand Prix weekend in Japan is about to begin with the first free practice session at the Suzuka Circuit. Don't miss any of the on-track action with this liveblog from GPblog.
The Japanese Grand Prix has finally returned to the Formula 1 calendar after a two-year absence. Many drivers, teams and fans are only too happy about this, as the Japanese circuit is loved by many. In the past, the circuit has hosted some great races and crowned a lot of champions.
The same could happen this weekend, as Max Verstappen is on match point to secure his second-world title. If the Red Bull Racing driver wins and takes the point for the fastest lap, he will prolong his title reign regardless of what Charles Leclerc does. Indeed, Verstappen needs to extend his lead over Charles Leclerc by eight points and win by six points over Sergio Perez. So the Dutchman has it in his own hands.
The first free practice session for the Japanese Grand Prix starts at 12:00 local time. From the start of the session, follow all the action from the track in the liveblog below.
