Ricciardo in tears after Singapore GP
"A tough race," said a physically and mentally exhausted Ricciardo. "Any time you're out in Q1, you have, potentially, a long day. I had to try something with strategy, and you never know here, with a safety car, it could work in your favour. Obviously, there wasn't a safety car today. Our strategy then came a little undone. But, I think, ultimately, we just weren't quite quick enough."
Ricciardo did his good friend
Max Verstappen an important favour in the closing stages of the
F1 race by posting the fastest lap of the race, taking an extra point off
Lando Norris.
"In the end, we were not really in any position, so we tried to go for the fastest lap, and I guess it [could help] Max out by Abu Dhabi, maybe. Maybe there's a Christmas present coming if he wins by one point," he laughed.
Ricciardo hints at F1 farewell
Ricciardo couldn't contain his emotions when he was asked about it potentially being his last race. "Yeah, a lot of emotions. I'm aware it could be it [the end] and I think I'm also just exhausted after the race. Just a flood of many emotions, feelings and exhaustion," said an emotional Ricciardo.
