It was a tough Grand Prix weekend for everyone in Singapore, but it might've been that little bit harder for
Daniel Ricciardo. The VCARB driver raced, knowing it could be his last
Formula 1 Grand Prix. He finished far away from the points, but he did secure the fastest lap at the end of the race around the
Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Ricciardo gets applause from VCARB
An emotional Ricciardo spoke to the media after the race. He said he hoped he could help
Max Verstappen by keeping the extra point for the fastest lap away from
Lando Norris. Team boss Laurent Mekies said he wanted this to give his driver a moment to savour should it turn out to be his last
F1 race.
After the race, Ricciardo was warmly welcomed by his team. The Australian returned to the garage to loud applause, where team members hugged and patted him on the back.
