For
Nicholas Latifi, the race in his native Canada may mean the turnaround. The
Williams driver did not drive a moment in the points this whole season. Moreover, he seems unable to understand his car. Slowly his chair legs are being sawn.
The first time
In any case, Latifi is looking forward to the Grand Prix in Montreal with great pleasure. In an interview with the local newspaper
Le Journal de Montreal he says he has never raced in his own country, except in karts. However, he was a regular spectator at the
Canadian Grand Prix.
No doubt Latifi will be a much talked about man this weekend. Unfortunately for him for the wrong reasons. His performance is lagging and maybe
Williams will soon push him aside. Even though the company Sofina, run by his father, is a major sponsor of the team.
"I definitely need to improve my performance," he said.
"I would be lying if I told you that my place in the team is safe. I am aware that the situation has to change."
Not in the kicking seat
There were already rumors that Latifi will be replaced by
Nyck de Vries, for example, still this season. Still, the Canadian does not feel that he is in the kicking seat.
"Not anymore," he says. Nevertheless, Latifi thus realizes that things have to improve. There are increasingly strong rumors that
Oscar Piastri will relieve him at Williams next season anyway.
