Max Verstappen took a big step to winning his fourth world championship by winning a chaotic
Brazilian Grand Prix from P17 on the grid.
Lando Norris, who started on pole, was looking to close the gap in the title battle, but he could only finish in P6.
In an incident-filled race that saw red flags, multiple safety cars, and five retirements due to crashes, Verstappen navigated his way through the field masterfully, moving up 16 positions to win his first Grand Prix since the
Spanish Grand Prix.
Behind him,
Esteban Ocon and
Pierre Gasly finished in P2 and P3, respectively, giving Alpine a fantastic double podium finish after a strategically brilliant race called by the French team.
Behind them was
George Russell in P4 who led for a part of this race, with
Charles Leclerc ahead of Norris in P5. Russell and Norris both came into the pits just before a red flag, meaning they lost out hugely when running in P1 and P2.
Piastri could only finish in P7 behind his teammate as Norris and Russell could not recover their race, while
Yuki Tsunoda and
Liam Lawson came in P8 and P9, respectively, to give VCARB a great double points finish.
Lewis Hamilton finished in P10 to take the final points paid position.
