The wet ePrix in Valencia had a rather strange ending. After quite a few collisions and other incidents, the safety car was called out more than once, something that left many drivers with flat batteries at the end of the race.
Error
Stoffel Vandoorne, who was driving at the back of the pack, ended up on the podium because people were stopping everywhere. Not exactly the finest hour for
Formula E. Something that race director Scot Elinks has come in for some criticism.
Director Frederic Bertrand told Motorsport.com: "I don't know if it's a mistake. I think it's a global approach to the end of the race. If you look at all the circumstances and the way it happened, it's a very difficult race. At the end, something happens in a few seconds, which may not be the right decision at the end."
Talking afterwards
Race winner
Nyck de Vries, who passed da Costa on the final lap, said the
FIA was "not necessarily" at fault. Betrand:
"But it is much better to and much easier to say afterwards what was wrong than beforehand."
