It's very rare you see a Toro Rosso running ahead of their big brothers Red Bull, but today is one of those bizarre days! Gasly finished the day in 6th place, while his team-mate Brendon Hartley also places inside the top 8.
The New Zealander made it into his first Q3 ever, giving the Toro Rosso boys a bonus tomorrow. He spoke to Sky Sports following the wet session.
"Really tough conditions, many times out there my engineer was telling me 'this is your one shot'.
"I had a couple of mistakes just at the end of Q3 and just fell short of my team-mate. My first time Q3, it was a really good effort and hopefully, we can hang on to a points position tomorrow."
The track has low power demands taking most of the buzz away from Honda and more towards the car itself. But it's still another surprise result which adds to their fourth-place finish in Bahrain.
How are they going to perform tomorrow? Let us know in the comments!
