Damon Hill has been a presence in the F1 paddock for many years. Of course he is remembered as the man who took the world title in 1996. Since then he has been an analyst for Sky Sports. In short, hundreds of F1 races Hill will have seen. The bad ones and the good ones. And the really good ones.
Hill seems to have enjoyed the race of Lewis Hamilton last Sunday in Brazil. On Twitter he wrote a song of praise for his compatriot. "That was one of the best drives I've ever seen in F1, " Hill tweeted. "By anyone. Utterly awesome."
Hamilton appears to have overtaken all 19 of his competitors in retrospect this weekend. He started this during the sprint race, which he started at the back and finished fifth. Due to an engine change, Hamilton had to start the main race from position ten. Within five laps Hamlton was back on the podium.
No mention of the 25km/h speed advantage by Hill.
So it was all honest lewie in his mind.
This is a guy who still calls his mother mummy.
Hill hails New Engine: 'Absolutely brilliant' Hill needs a pill...FFS..
As a race fan, Verstappen’s drive was by far more impressive holding back Lewis with such a huge car advantage on a super easy to overtake track along with well timed safety cars. I don’t get why Lewis is being hailed for this race? What did he actually do that was so difficult? He’s had much more impressive drives at other venues. He had a tough weekend with penalties and i get that it was a relief or satisfaction for him to win the race in the end to keep the championship alive but really it was nothing more than that. From a driving perspective, praising Lewis’ drive is like praising someone overtaking a backmarker. The truth is mercedes have had the best car all year….Lewis has failed to extract the performance consistently which is his main job. That is why he keeps talking about Redbull’s car to shift the spotlight away from his failings. Use common sense, the teams havent been developing the cars because of 2022…if the performance was here at interlagos, it has been there for a long time already. So i’ll hail Merc for building a beast of a racecar but Hamilton has only proven that he is a much better driver than Bottas.

No one has a problem achieving success with a compliant car.
Fact is Mercedes were caught cheating and there lies the difference.
Should F1 fans continue to question the integrity of Mercedes after that?
You bet they should.
I find it hard to believe that Mercedes are cheating considering the damage to their brand if they are caught but also since their car has been fast yet legal for many years. I believe they used Bottas’ engines for R&D and are running more engines for Lewis so that they can run each fresh engine harder. I think they are gaining a big advantage there. I can believe that the Drs thing was down to wing damage but not so sure about the rear wing flexing. Still i doubt they’re cheating…they’re just flexing their engine hp advantage as they have done since 2014. Hats off to Honda for catching up despite a rocky and late start.
So with Merc 44 expected to easily win the remaining 3 races with a puppet at the wheel and presuming Max will finish 2nd each time, Merc 44 will secure the WC by 7pts excluding any fastest lap points.
With only around a 5-6 km/h advantage Merc 44 has had all season, we witnessed Max's superior driving skills account for that but now with a 22 km/h handicap this will be asking too much, even for him.
We are back to pre 2021 and how 7 WC's were achieved and hence the tag 'paper champ'
Still hoping for a miracle for Max against massive odds.
Damon Hill must have shed a tear when he witnessed the speed of that rocket last Sunday reminding him of how he won his WC as a puppet that year.
Hilarious.
You really can't take much notice of DownSyndrome Hill. Even Lulu can win in that cheating Merc.
Oh yes man! Now that is what I call an engine advantage over the rest! Easy wins as I've been accustomed to since 2014. Get in there Toto, Mercedes and our friends from the FIA. Get in there!
Hill is RIGHT: Hamilton is the GOAT of all F1 drivers and deservedly so. The Verstappen slurper sniffers must have had their heads explode when they read this tweet LOL !!!
Let me make something clear. There is no such thing as a Verstappen fanboi, at least not directly. But, Lewis' fanbase is decidedly parochial - 1) ppl of African origin (regardless if they know racing), the British - the quintessential rapers of humanity and the British Fw1 lobby in F1
People of African origin EVEN IF THEY KNOW RACING OR NOT...As and african I would love to meet you and show you exactly what we know and what we do t you racist dickhead. Let me tell you this...and let me dumb it down for your stupid white ass.......if Mercedes have the dominant ar and they win all the tiles year after year then it's jobs done...that's the objective....and that should encourage the rest to raise the bar to get to that level...but you probably that kid that is at best average if not bad at everything sports related and that's why you always back the underdog and have no problem seeing the strong being disabled or handicapped just so the weaklings like yourself can also participate...cause you are a nothing if measured on merit.
No one has a problem achieving success with a compliant car.
Fact is Mercedes were exposed as confirmed cheats and there lies the difference.
Should F1 fans continue to question the integrity of Mercedes after that?
You bet they should.
They have brought that upon themselves.
I should have explained myself more clearly about what I meant by decidedly parochial. Lewis' fans of African origin back him simply because he is black just like them (I don't have a problem with that, by the way), and they play the race card whenever someone criticizes Lewis. Not all of his fans do this, but most of them default to this mindset, which is narrow in thinking, hence parochial. I do take issue with. It's quite convenient to throw out prefavricated labels to defend your hero, isn't it? You did it here also. The funny thing is you assumed I'm white. Why? Because I must be, right, or else your whole predetermined notion falls apart. I'm South Asian. And, by the way, I support African people's right to live dignified lives, and I oppose racism. I don't trust BLM, though, because it's a political organization with competing interests. The other thing I find parochial is British fans and the country's media bashing other nationals just because they are competing with a British sports person. That's, again, narrow thinking. There's a difference between pride and hubris.
Does his having a immense African base bother you?
The fact that he follow it up with whether they know racing or not pisses me off. I'm from south africa we smell a racist rat from a continent away.
What did you think I meant? I meant a black person doesn't need a reason to support another black person. Some black people who supports Lewis in these forums don't even follow racing. They come to trample opposition by accusing them of racism. It's a convenient ploy for them. I understand the solidarity among black people, for they have been through a lot. But, don't abuse it.
No, it doesn't. It bothers me when they mistake criticism as racism by default.
What Max did in France with the slower car was brilliant.
Russell out qualifying Lulu at Spa in a Williams was brilliant.
Max going from last to 20th in Russia with the second best car was brilliant.
Schumacher nearly lapping the field in Spain 96 with the third best car was brilliant.
What Lulu did yesterday was a walk in the park. Even had his teammate move over for him to make his easy job even easier. Got past the Ferrari halfway down the straight like it was a backmarker not a car third in the championship.
Malaysia qualifying? I guess you will not even know what I am talking about.
UP YOURS, RACIST SCUM ( That is referring to you, Simpleh Lovely lol)
See you messed up as soon as you said 'slower car'.
Max can't win in a slower car so I dunno how you work that out.
If he could he'd have done more over the last 7 years.
Schumacher lapped the field in Spain 1996 because it was a downpour. Rain is a performance leveller.
Then it's down to talent and Michael was always good in the rain.
It didn't matter how fast or slow the car was in that weather.
Lewis in Brazil was just glorious. Fast car or not.
Don't kid yourself that F1 is easy at any level.
You couldn't do that 'walk in the park'. You'd trip after the first step.
"Thank you Valtteri" is a comment Hamilton has had to make 4 times this year.
Thank you stewards I suggest he should have made after the Silverstone crime.
Any driver (other than Hami, of course) in one of the top cars goes from last to fourth or fifth and the press goes "meh, that's what he's supposed to do in one of the faster cars", Hami does the same after being disqualified for cheating and the press sees him as the second coming! ?? Laughable that he's sometimes put above or even _with_ the greatest drivers, I mean the guy has talent (as much as Russell as we saw ?) but, 'meh, he's supposed to do that in _the_ fastest (and cheating) car of the field' ... and yeah he's on a class of his own ???.
7 world titles to his name. Still waiting for one for your angry aggressive and rude boy? From what I saw yesterday, it looks like you will be waiting for a bit longer.
Mercs were caught off guard this year because of the rule change. Next year they are off from the get go. The wait for you and your boy continues.
Did HAM cheat? He started at the back, ever you didn't notice, 25 overtakes in one WE. He probably took a short circuit, right?
Daemon Hill - a talentless hack that got beaten everytime he faced competition has a comment? I rate Mr. Murry Walker as a far better example of his country's attempt at presenting something not inherantly parochial. Hill? Bahahaha....
You are on the net. Just Google Damon Hill mate. Enough said. Now jog on little girl. Go and watch George and Peppa.
I was watching f1 long before love made matter, and even further back when that matter-so formed got bigger off ya mama's titties.
Watching it and paying attention enough to know what you're talking about are two different things.
If you were that smart, you wouldn't need to be a troll.
And Murray Walker loved Damon Hill.
Remind me who won the title in 1996 and who in an Arrows (equivalent to todays Haas) almost won a race were it not for a 50p part that failed on the car.
Hill is a world champion who took it to Schumacher in 1994 after all that happened that year. Then won the title in 1996.
So dismissive when it doesn't suit your narrative eh? Try troll-typical.
Flawless, awesome, probably the best drive of his career. Even when the boy with anger issues threw in a spanner, he kept his cool. Loved it. It is not over yet.
For sure it was quite a drive to recover after those penalties. I'm not necessarily a fan of big words, i wouldn't go as far as Damon, but definitely one of the better races of the year, as a whole, for f1, and most likely Lewis' best of the season.
I don't understand how they "hail" LH if he's driving the dominating car? Of course he is going to win
@v
Property sport fans...do you know what that mean ..you sound like an idiot. Let say he has the dominant car...isn't that the objective of the sport..for the team to build the best car....lol wow the stupidity is just in abundance among the Verstappen fans....
What would a sport fan be tired of the Brits?
That's like sci-fi fans being tired of Mexicans. Makes no sense.
That would just make them bigots then. Nothing to do with 'sport fans'.
Sometimes I do wonder how people come up with such ridiculous commentary.
Ask veganwarrior about dominating cars. She's been on about it the whole season on RBR.
I've learned a lot from that woman
And, by the way Bailley, how about you adopt a few dogs that got seperated from their parents bcoz your country is good at dropping bombs at others.
25 overtakes in 1 weekend should have been quite obvious to everybody, except the blind haters. Anybody else who ever did it? Yes, but in F3...it was Lewis
There was no car that could beat the Mercedes, that car should be banned its just wrong to race against it, Lewis just cruzed past not even a fight max was the wawms the only one to keep him at bay, until the trye where go, very sad f1 let him race with such a powerful car,
RBR should do his own Formula 1 especialy with gp2 and gp3 cars...They will win everything and we don't have to argue here anymore This is the best solution :))
Max fought alright. Didn't you see when he pushed Lewis off and weaved around like a panicked rabbit?
How about we say the same thing about the Red Bull in Mexico then?
How is it 'of course'? Why hasn't he won all the races then?
You can't say lack of talent or superMax because that undermines your own statement.
So now what?
