Horner enjoys the competition: 'The more Wolff gets wound up, the more fun'
The title battle between Mercedes and Red Bull Racing doesn't just continue on the track. The two teams are also battling it out off track, especially team bosses Christian Horner and Toto Wolff.
In a conversation with Channel 4, Horner talks about the battle between the two teams. "Of course it’s the first time Mercedes and Toto have been in a situation where he’s been challenged. he’s been in a situation where he came into the team, the drivers already signed, the engine was already in place. He’s done a great job to keep that team winning. But there’s been no real competition."
Mercedes has been the dominant team in Formula 1 since 2014 and this season is actually the first time there has been any real competition until the end. Horner talks about the respect between the two teams, but also the different ways of working. "This is the first time it’s a true scrap, it’s a true competition. There is a respect, I think, between the teams, but I think we operate in very different ways."
'The more he gets excited, the more fun'
Horner continues: "I want to be very much on the front line, I sit on the pit wall with the strategists and the engineers. Toto will sit in the garage next to the press guy, so they’re different functions, they’re different roles. They’re different outlooks, but of course, the competition is fierce. I think that’s the key thing about this championship. We’re loving the competition and the more Toto gets wound up, the more fun it becomes."
"The next twelve weeks will determine whether we win the championship or not. And we got eight cup finals basically to ensure that we deliver at our very best. Mercedes are beatable and it’s only if we’re at our very best. We can succeed, we’ve proved we can do it. We’ve proved to ourselves that we can do it. We got ourselves into that position," says the Red Bull team boss. With just seven races to go, the end of the season promises to be more exciting than ever.

Ferrari and vettel should of beaten mercs for at least two seasons, had it not been for LH brilliance.

Merc clear best car in 2017 and 2018, just that Hams and Merc kept making blunders in the first half of each season. Bottas was clearly outdriving Hams early in 2018.

Regardless of who you follow or support, you can't deny LH career, it's been said numerous times from his fellow drivers and ex drivers his brilliance, pace and race craft. Similar to max, and I'm sure Russell in the near future, they will be spoken of in the same high regard.. who knows someone may even break his records.

The amount of statements that were made about how the Halo saved Hamiltons life and how Verstappen's action otherwise could have/would have been deadly, tell a different tune.
At the same time, it's other safety items added over the years that made Verstappen's crash survivable.
Toto said that was a tactical crash from Verstappen .RBR said that Hamilton tried to kill Max in Silverstone.. There is a big difference between tactical crash and a murder intention .But you have to be stupid like SteveSyd to say that Bottas received a grid penalty to crash in Verstapen car like a Kamikase..I ve never read a statement of Wolf when he said that Max tried to kill Lewis.Maybe he said that Hamilton could have been badly injured but never said about a murder allegations like Marko and Horner..
