Ralf Schumacher thinks the
Singapore Grand Prix could be the last
F1 race for
Daniel Ricciardo. The former Formula One driver thinks it will be
Liam Lawson taking over and driving the RB car from the
United States Grand Prix onwards.
Last season,
Liam Lawson was thrown in at the deep end and covered for an injured
Daniel Ricciardo for five race weekends for
Visa Cash App RB, called AlphaTauri at the time. The New Zealand driver impressed in his first
F1 race laps, so much so that
Helmut Marko shared in August that Liam Lawson would have a seat at either
Red Bull Racing or VCARB by 2025.
Ralf Schumacher: 'Singapore GP might be Ricciardo's last race'
Schumacher, however, thinks Lawson may have a chance to race before then. Speaking to the German branch of Sky Sports, he stated, "Unfortunately, it looks like Singapore will be Daniel Ricciardo's last race for now. After that, Liam Lawson will drive. That was probably in his contract, because otherwise they [Red Bull] would lose Lawson."
The former driver and brother of seven-time world champion
Michael Schumacher continued, "
VCARB is a junior team. That's what its management has always said and encouraged, 'We rely on young drivers, on drivers coming from us'. And that's why it makes sense."
