It was already reported that
McLaren have
rejected a loan move for Lando Norris to go to Toro Rosso, and the story has prompted a reaction from former BBC presenter Jake Humphrey.
Humphrey thinks that one of the main reasons that McLaren rejected the loan move is because of Honda. McLaren had a notoriously bad relationship with the Japanese engine manufacturer, and the team wouldn't want to see Norris driving in a Honda-powered car, especially since there have been occasions where Toro Rosso have out-paced McLaren. Why would McLaren want to see Norris beat their own team in a different car that's powered by the team that McLaren axed?
Humphrey rightly questions the youth programme of Red Bull Racing, which used to have one talent after the other. Why is Red Bull looking elsewhere for new talent? Don't they have their own drivers in the pipeline?
