Jean Todt is no longer president of the FIA. So the Frenchman is a free man, who undoubtedly will get some offers from the racing world. A logical step would be a return to Ferrari, the team he led during the Michael Schumacher era.
A few weeks ago, there was a persistent rumour that Todt would return to Ferrari as an advisor, in a similar role to the late Niki Lauda at Mercedes. This rumour seems to have died down in the meantime. Nevertheless the French AutoHebdo asks if a recently resigned FIA president can again work for a Formula 1 team?
The French magazine believes that a comeback at Ferrari - which he has served for twelve years - could create a conflict of interest that could irritate the other teams on the grid considerably. This refers to the secret agreement that Ferrari made with the FIA two years ago, when it came to light that the Italians were using illegal engines. It never became public what exactly was going on.
Todt was actually planning to retire, after a lifetime in racing. According to AutoHebdo a reappearance at Ferrari would mean some reputational damage for the FIA, especially after the controversial way the title race was decided in Abu Dhabi. The very man who was responsible for that would be working for a Formula 1 team a few months later. In short, the conclusion of AutoHebdo is that a return to Ferrari would lead to quite some controversy.
The problem with this article is that ...HE NEVER LEFT FERRARI...
Ferrari will never be the same Micheal era, but you never know with FIA/F1...anything can be manipulated.
Just ask Lewis, he couldn't have his cake and eat it too even if we're in his mouth.
Todt, including MASI manipulated the 2021 outcome of the championship. He will never command respect from any serious racer or team.
Moving to Ferrari is probably the worse he could do or for that team post their cheating scandal. The scandal just like the outcome of the championship really doesn't bode well for F1...and this I hope is protested by other sensible F1 teams.
It's true what you write: LM and FIA have manipulated the F1 2021 championship, especially when they didn't punish LH in Imola for the reverse lap, or in Silverstone with a ridiculous penalty of a few seconds, especially when they changed the rules against RedBull (homologated and verified rear wing, no more acceptable) and when Pirelli changed the structure of the tires just to favor Mercedes, otherwise, the championship was already over and in favor of RedBull and Verstappen, before Silverstone. And it is not the first time that F1 has been manipulated, and it happened when they "accidentally" chose the engine whose architecture was better known by Mercedes, warning them in time under the table, and giving them and LH a huge (but unfair) advantage that lasted until 2020. Also the DAS was not legal, because it changed the set-up, but unlike the RedBull pylon, they turned a blind eye and it was fine until the end of that championship. Yes, it's really true what you write, F1, since 2014 has really been manipulated and the results should be removed from the register, both constructors and drivers.
It was ex-FIA Prez Todt who let Ferrari off the hook for cheating in 2019. When announced in early Q1 2020, Todt kept all details of their investigation results secret.
Todt basically protected Ferrari from significant litigation because no one knows how long Ferrari were cheating. Now diabolical Todt wants a Scuderia return. This is beyond conflict.
