Sergio Perez did not get to enjoy his third place in qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix for long. After the session ended, the Mexican was penalised by the stewards for getting in Nico Hulkenberg's way in Q1. As a result, Perez loses his spot on the second row of the grid and has to move back three places. Perez will thus start the Grand Prix from sixth position.
Because of the penalty, some drivers move up a place. Lando Norris gets third place, while Charles Leclerc saw his still disappointing fifth place turn into P4.
In the first part of qualifying, Hulkenberg did not make it through to Q2. The German was clearly hampered in his fast run by Perez. The stewards reported the incident during the session, but it was investigated after the session. To do so, the Mexican had to explain to the stewards, including Johnny Herbert.
Perez did continue to the second part of qualifying and eventually managed to qualify third; a place he now loses.
why does perez always get penalized for everything???!!!!! this is crap!
And this is partially the blame of the team to. Let's hope he can find some pace tomorrow ?
I agree OM, and so its somtimes penalized and somtimes not, the inconsistencies with the FIA and the stewards are frustrating. Somtimes I think Pérez gets punished for all the penalties Max does not get lol.
Max gets away with everything.
We already know this for quite a while
Thats just silly wishful thinking
Inconsistency of the FIA/Stewards has been an issue for a very very long time
But.... the big names like Alonso and especially Verstappen/Hamilton..... do get away with things more often
Should we start to count how many times HAM got away with it?
You only see what you wanna see, nothing new..
Absolutely, the inconsistencies with penalties is ridiculous, you're right to agree with me highlighting that J41L, enjoy the race weekend and be kind .
Because he doesn't know how to drive a F1 car.
Also the penalty system is a lottery...
