Lewis Hamilton thinks the dominance of Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing is beginning to bore even the team. The Mercedes driver believes this from the reactions of team boss Christian Horner.
Hamilton, who experienced years of dominance at Mercedes after the hybrid era was introduced in Formula 1, thinks Red Bull are beginning to become over-accustomed to winning. He hears this on the team radio.
"When you have so much success, no matter how hard you try, it’s hard to keep things in perspective. I even hear it in Christian Horner’s voice when Max wins. He doesn’t know what to say. He’s like: ‘Here we go again. Good job, Max. Good job.'" Hamilton said in a conversation with Channel 4.
"The excitement goes, but when you first get that win, it’s amazing. But if you have it all the time..." he added. "I think through adversity and through this experience for two years, I feel like I’ve learned a huge amount as a driver – not necessarily on track but particularly off track in terms of how I engage with everyone, and I like to think that’s a real positive."
What nonsense!! When he was dominant for so many years, Mr. LH did not complain about this either!!!
Imagine if Red Bull decided to get serious.
Speaking of lack of enthusiasm over the past 2 years...................
He has a point though.
When i read the title, it felt like Lewis sounded as if he's poking the bear, but his actual words make sense.
Checo wasn't really that happy, Horner and GP sounded uninspired, ironically it was Max that had most to say, and sing about it.
But yeah, Red Bull has to take the challenge of keeping themselves motivated and focused, if they keep winning, it'll get harder and harder.
Then again, if they keep winning... then they're still winning, obviously.
So again it is up to the competition to actually be competitive.
And i kinda feel like if it's not going to get closer next year, then 2025 might be a wash as well, many teams might be looking ahead to 2026 instead of spending time and money on a "lost cause" in 2025.
EDIT: Hah, kinda funny, the article underneath my comment is headlined: "Alpine no longer concerned with engine equalisation: 'Looking ahead to 2026' "
It has begun!
Another Hamilton article and so many comments it just show's how popular he is.... Imagine if he wasn't racing who would you guys dislike next ( Probably Magnussen going by the other article) you'll need to find someone to have a go at for petty reasons
Why did the moderator delete my comment?
Poor Hamilton : < Would you appreciate these victories more? Should the FIA change the rules for you? then will you show us how to enjoy it? xD
ohh boy seriously, you are the best example of a star falling. Your case will be studied and analyzed by young athletes as a warning - to know when to leave with dignity
You and your surroundings convinced you that you were a "goat" - they did you a terrible harm and now we see the consequences.
Probably because it was a load of anti Hamilton S##t as usual from you? Just a thought.
Red bull have fully dominated the last two seasons. Like the say you don't get bored of winning. Lewis just bored of not winning. Should just retire before George shows everyone how avarage hamilton is
You mean like George has shown Lewis up this year? Lewis is 3rd in the table so should all the other Drivers retire as well?
Well... if there is one person that knows what it feels like to get bored of winning it's this guy. It is no surprise honestly, it seems natural when we think how human psychology works. We are very adaptable to make whatever good or bad situation our new baseline or "default".
As a pure racing team/driver, they are running out of phrases when the chequered flag falls.
They’re not actors and there is no room in the budget cap to hire somebody to write new script for almost every weekend.???
As for the motivation, as long as Toto and Lewis are the part of F1 we don’t have to worry; RBR just want to rub it in for them for the 2014-2020 era.
I agree with you about RBR. I've said it for a while now that Horner in particular is all twisted up inside because of Mercedes domination. It torments him even in success.
If this is their driving force then I love it. I love that Mercedes and Lewis got Horner, Marko and Max tied up in knots to feel like they do. Max's feelings for Lewis were clear in 2021 and another time they met on track again in Brazil 2022, Max's only thought was to go for a move that might knock Lewis out.
Someone, perhaps Mercedes, will come along and rub it in to Red Bull when their inevitable fall comes. That, I feel, is not far away.
They should make hay while the sun shines.
44 legend you make me laugh say horner twisted .guss you not seen all the outburst toto been say over last coupel day??
No, I missed all of them. A couple, sorry coupel, of days vs 7 long years... how long would you prefer to be twisted for? ??
Toto's team dominated for 7 years. What would he need to be twisted about? The only twisting Toto was doing was the knife in Horners back.
Horner had 7 years of torment that he carries with him to this day.
I would just say the exact same thing every time, see how long it'll take to become a meme ?
"...and I like to think that’s a real positive."
That's exactly what Lewis likes to think, but he's just expressing his desire to see the decline in RB enthusiasm actually happen. I guess it's easier for him that way and it consoles and motivates him to still have hope and that next year will be better. They won't.
That's not what he was expressing at all. You're just stirring.
He knows what it's like to be in that position for years. You can't get complacent or let things slip.
A pity you let your bitterness show through on this one.
Even the Orange fans are bored with the domination. I said so a longtime ago.
It is surely more satisfying to celebrate a win that was not certain or hard fought, than one that is already expected of you and predicted before the race.
No they're not. When it's your guy who's dominating you're enjoying it, you don't get bored.
Well, Max is dominant winning races one after the other but he sure has to work for it. Working around an issue with his breaks, that qualifying lap in Monaco, so many other examples which points to his driving skills, not the car.
Sure, if the car feels good and quick, you are more confident in pushing to the max, but there is an element of his stellar mentality and driving skills that makes him seemingly unbeatable.
It's not "just" the car. I wonder what delta value sceptics would consider to be the cutoff from where driver skills make the difference, and how close the individual drivers would be.
Well, that is not much difference to the same boring post-race winning interviews we have been hearing from one particular driver for so many years!
"I would like to thank the team. They did a very good job giving me a fantastic car ....."
Which is more than we hear from Max. Does he ever spare a thought for the team with a radio shoutout? Lewis thinks of others, Max thinks of himself.
And if you have 103 wins, there's not much else to say is there? Kinda proving Lewis' point there.
You wouldn't know because you rather listen Billie Eilish on radio. Max has thanked his team many times even in post race interviews for the car they gave him.
Oh so now you're turning a joke into fact. Is this how you gather the resources to formulate your responses? It's not going to hold up get well is it? You would do better to concentrate on facts rather than trying to turn a joke into one.
In fact, if you'd skipped that entire first sentence, surprisingly, the rest of your post would have been civil and constructive.
A shame you spoiled it really and created further animosity.
But this is how most of you RB guys roll isn't it? Attack, attack, attack.
And you wonder why you get trolled :)
As I said to Still_Roy, who said the same thing about Max, I'll take your word for it.
All we need to see now from Max is Mission33 to show us that he can help others even if he can't do it for his own team-mate.
(I said that due to your snidey little reply - see how this works?). You drop that first domino and the next one falls, then the next...
Be nice. Stop the domino's.
'Completely unnecessary from you.'
Perhaps that's true, but at times the unnecessary feels necessary.
"I get to witness a lot more anti-Lewis/Merc comments on here than you do with anti-Max/RB comments."
All of us are fans of either, and maybe we take it too far at times but it won't end because no one wants to be the better person to say ok we will stop and tone down on the Trolling and bad comments, that's me included.
"Look now how that one sentence of yours has now lead to you berating me further and me pushing back."
Might be so I won't deny, but I've seen you do the same to others.
Anyways have a good day.
I was replying to Still_Roy. Then you replied to me (not the other way around) and instead of being civil you got a little bit nasty about it when there was no need to in this instance.
Completely unnecessary from you.
People don't have to accept how I form my replies either. Most of them don't. But they exist in this form due to the amount of bad sentiment that continues to exist here from certain people.
You don't need to balance any scales on here. The flow of trolling from the RB side already far outweighs that from the Merc side.
I get to witness a lot more anti-Lewis/Merc comments on here than you do with anti-Max/RB comments. For a long as the RB mob post their anti-Lewis/Merc comments on Lewis/Merc articles, I feel I am free to do likewise with Max and Red Bull articles. And as I've said, I am in the minority. If the majority stop their behaviour, I will fall into line too - and be happy to do it. Just give the word.
I don't call their comments snidey. I said only of your comment. Don't twist things.
Look now how that one sentence of yours has now lead to you berating me further and me pushing back. You were the one, on this occasion, that chose to instigate. I gave you no cause to.
If you argue with me on one article, but make a good comment on another article, I'm quite capable of responding well to your good comment and not allow what was said before to spill over.
So don't try and make this about me because it's trendy. You instigated without provocation this time. Own it.
No, see how it works, you are on here and can form your replies in whatever way you like and people have to accept it but once you get the same response from someone else you say we create further animosity.
So there would be no Domino's continuing to drop if you followed the same advice you are giving. Some of your posts are just as 'snidey' and then it's not even in response to others but on articles about Max or RBR, not sure if you need the attention because you know people will make comment back towards you and then you will call their comments 'snidey'
If there's a team who lacks of enthusiasm and motivation, MB and Haas comes to mind...
But certainly not RB.
Also, Wolff's mental breakdown since now 2 years, Horner has quite some margin.
It may come to your mind, but it doesn't make it so. It comes to mind because of perhaps how you feel about MB and maybe now Haas because of Magnussen's recent astute comments.
Not sure what mental breakdown you're referring to, but it seems you need to find some comfort.
Mercedes? They seem extremely eager to get back to the top to me, maybe even to a problematic degree haha. But I definitely don't see any lack of motivation...
Having regularly mental breakdowns and accusing others of cheating, I wouldn't call it
Enthusiasm and motivation tbh.
It's not the one who shouts the loudest that will be the best.
Only the clock count.
It's surprising this hasn't surfaced on GPblog yet, but various sources are claiming today that Lewis Hamilton approached Red Bull multiple times this year, to inquire if they were interested in having him join their team. Horner declined.
I'm not sure about how Wolff took it, but that would definitely cause me a mental breakdown if I were Hamilton's team principal.
@manualshift ye i read that lewis approched red bull .funny how he been slate them off and want to go to red bull .oh its becoause as lewis keep say red bull got a rockitship and merc not .
