'Red Bull decision has been made: Perez will leave the team'
- Sandy van Wijngaarden
Red Bull had the post-Abu Dhabi GP meeting last Monday, where among other things, the future line-up of their two F1 teams, Red Bull Racing and VCARB have been decided. According to Sky Sports Germany, the decision was completed by the Austrians.
The German channel reports that Sergio Perez will leave the team and will no longer drive for Red Bull Racing in the 2025 season, despite the Mexican still having a contract for both the season, with an option for a contract extension.
There had been issues with Perez's performance during this season. While, the team previously decided to keep the Mexican in the hope that his performance would improve, that did not really happen during the second half of the season, and Perez eventually finished eighth in the championship.
'This driver will be Perez's replacement at Red Bull Racing'
Perez's replacement is also already known, Sky Sports Germany explains. Liam Lawson will be promoted from Visa Cash App RB to Red Bull Racing. However, they did not publish who would be Lawson's replacement at the junior team. This is expected to be Red Bull junior and F2 runner-up Isack Hadjar.
