A large proportion of Formula 1 drivers live in Monaco or at least quite a distance from the disaster area in the Italian province of Emilia-Romagna. Since the end of his first season in Formula 1, Yuki Tsunoda has been living in the Faenza area, the city where his team AlphaTauri is based. The Japanese driver has seen first-hand the devastation of the water.
Through his Twitter account, Tsunoda reports from the affected area, which he calls home. Alongside a video and a photo of a street full of mud, the Japanese driver writes: "After a horrible night the town is heavily impacted: dust, mud, and the smell of gasoline everywhere. Currently people are struggling to find food and especially places to stay, after many have been evacuated from their own homes. Please, anything you can do to help is appreciated," Tsunoda concluded.
Tsunoda also added a QR code to his Tweet, making it easy to donate money. Earlier in the day, Stefano Domenicali announced that Formula 1 will also be raising money for the victims of the natural disaster. This, according to the Italian, includes a special focus on employees of Alpha Tauri, whose children lost everything.
In 2019 a Typhoon caused devastation during the Rugby World Cup and the Canada vs Scotland game got cancelled.....
Canadian Rugby team and personal set about helping victims of the disaster, got down and dirty doing it.
Imagine if the F1 teams did the same and physically helped out the victims.....each team could easily spare 20 men each.
Would also help with the image of F1 IMHO.
Get them the food and accommodation Yuki.. Or are you appealing to the average middle class to save the day?
He clearly appeal to whoever. How big do you think Yuki his house and fridge are.
Besides providing shelter to these victims, he should also not forget about the people affected by the recent earthquake in his home country, adopt poor African orphans, support Europeans their war, buy an electric car, become vegan and publicly cheer for the LGBTQIA+ community?
