Liam Lawson has a lot to prove this upcoming
Formula 1 season. Not only has he joined a top team, but he has also become the teammate of
Max Verstappen, a seat that is not easy to keep filled. Despite the pressure on Lawson,
Christian Horner already seems pleased with him.
Only one day before the pre-season testing in Bahrain,
Liam Lawson was able to complete a shakedown for the RB21. It was then that he stepped into his new car for the first time this season. After that, he drove in three testing sessions; Wednesday morning and both Thursday sessions.
Horner very happy with Lawson's feedback
After Lawson had his first session in the car, Horner was happy with what he achieved. The
Red Bull Racing team principal told
F1TV: "I think he's done a great job so far. He's working his way into the team, and his feedback is good."Horner also mentions how in sync both Lawson and his teammate
Verstappen are.
"It's consistent with what Max is saying. And we're enjoying working with him, and he just needs laps."Like Horner,
Red Bull Racing's Technical Director, Pierre Waché also agrees with Lawson's feedback being similar to
Verstappen's and helpful to the team.
While Lawson is not officially classified as a rookie, he has only driven 11 Grands Prix before. He drove for
Red Bull Racing's junior team,
Racing Bulls, twice. Once in 2023, when he replaced an injured
Daniel Ricciardo, and then again during the 2024 season, where he replaced Ricciardo completely.
